Hi,

I'm an ex nail technician and was self employed for 4 yrs renting space in salons......

I'm in Australia so i had a look at some websites of Nail Salons in the UK and you can make around 50/60 pounds for Full Sets and around 25/30 pounds for refills. The salons are changing between 25 to 30 pounds just for a french manicure!

You can easily charge 35 pounds for refills.

If you only need one client to cover each day then go for it....... Just plan how you're going to advertise and use the existing clientele in the salon to pick up business.

Make sure you have a written contract to protect yourself and that stipulates the exact amount of rent you'll be paying and the time frame that that rate stands for.

Coming from experience, people seem to change rules and conditions when they realise how much money you're making so make sure you're covered so they can't just up the rent on you when you start getting busy and making a good income.

Definitely go for it, you will learn a lot from the experience.

My moto now having had so much experience with running a business is ';Nothing Personal, Strictly Business';. Rememeber that, it will help you think more business like.

Good luck and enjoy yourself!

Remember Nothing ventured, Nothing gained.

This might be of help to you, or it might not ... but I am just 'recovering' from a similar opportunity but it was a kitchen in a pub and this is what I've learnt ... make sure the staff are friendly and treat all customers with respect, make sure there are no immediate plans to sell the salon because it will affect you and do some sort of advertising before you start, it is an expense I'm sure you could do without but it will be worth it in the long run. Go for it and good luck!!!
make sure your service is well advertised first and go for it, you'd only need 3/4 clients, so you cant really lose.

good luck
take the table but print up some fliers and stick them through doors and ask the receptionist to give a flier to clients when they pay. clients at the salon will use your services too. good luck
Take the table! U can charge 拢25 for nail ectensions and thats one day paid with one client plus being in a salon gets u business. People decide to get both their hair done and their nails
Un eed to build a client base uo so then you know you will be getting the money u spend on rentin the chair back unless u can afford to do that for aw hile and see how it goes.
wait until you build up a base. then you will be glad you did.
You need to know if the salon has a large enough client base to support you. Make sure that they are going to let their clients know that a new technician is coming on board (at least two to three months before you make the move) and find out what the feed back is. Good luck.
build your clientell up free of charge 1st then pay when you start getting paid. the salon should be glad of having extra customers coming in there salon. im sure they could let you use the table for a while until you build your customers up.
Presumably you will also need to supply your own stock, etc. this should all be added into your expenditure.

Will you be the only person there doing nails or will you be in competition with others?

You say you don't have a client base yet, how much experience do you have?

Is the salon itself busy?

Is it in an area where there will be a demand for this treatment?

What sort of price can you charge there?

Are you good at self promotion and self motivated?

I know this is a lot of questions, but these are the things you need to clarify first.

Good luck.
Check with this salon to see if they can help you build up your clients they usually would have their own clients but would have walk in's also..

I would say it is worth def for 拢25 a day anyway that's really good.
